Summary:Weve

Google I/O 2013 is now officially in the books. There were some pretty interesting things being shown off. Mercedes showed its vision for what in-car navigation and infotainment could be. Nvidia displayed some of their interesting gaming controller ideas (and their new Shield device). Google Glass was everywhere, with a bevy of sessions and developer tracks aimed at exposing devs to the new Glass APIs.

The one commonality among all of these topics? Bluetooth® technology.

Bluetooth connected the Mercedes to the phone for a richer experience across devices and digital mediums. Bluetooth connected the mobile gaming controllers to devices at the show. Bluetooth connected Google Glasses to an Android device.

With native support for Bluetooth 4.0 in the Android API v18, you no longer need to worry about supporting multiple Bluetooth 4.0 implementations or creating shim layers for multiple 4.0 implementations post v18.

Bluetooth is not becoming the de facto standard for your personal area network…it already is the standard for your personal area network. With Bluetooth 4.0 enabling low energy solutions, developers are going to have a field day with all of the cool stuff that they will be able to do!

Now is the time, my friends. If you haven’t looked at Bluetooth, what are you waiting for? It’s everywhere, and the possibilities with the platforms are even greater than they were just a year ago.

Unleash those creative ideas and energies, and take advantage of the Bluetooth 4.0 platform to bring your solutions and appcessories to market!  And let me know what you are up to at devfeedback@bluetooth.com
