A headset designed to fit into snow helmets allowing
communication with up to four people is available to skiers or other outdoor
enthusiasts online and at major retailers. The Snowtalk, developed by Sena Technologies, uses
Bluetooth and has a range of 700 meters. It costs $129.99.
The technology
enables users to listen to music and make phone calls on simple, glove-friendly
controls. The unit features up to six hours of talk time and six days of
stand-by time. A fleece ear-warmer provides the option to use it for non-helmet
activities such as sledding and hunting.
“We’ve seen
firsthand how the ability to communicate effectively enhances the power sports
experience and we think the same will apply to the slopes or in the back
country,” said Sena CEO Tae Kim.
