Summary:Developer

There’s one thing I discovered over the past few months of working at the SIG, there is a LOT of tribal knowledge out there about how to best develop Bluetooth® technology applications. Layer on top of that the different platforms (Microsoft, Apple, Google, etc.), and you soon come to realize there are a lot of moving pieces.

We get a lot of questions: “What is the best way to implement a custom profile for a device in Bluetooth 4.0?” “How can I do the same functions across OS platforms?” “Is there a best way to interrogate services?” Most often, the answer to these questions begins with “it depends.”

I’d like Bluetooth developers to have a place they can go to get ideas on how to solve problems.  I have a lot of ideas, but I need your help.  I want to gather up all the tribal knowledge—get the answers out of people’s heads and into the community—so the answer goes from “it depends” to “here’s how you do it.”

Do you have a great way to do something pertaining to Bluetooth development? Do you have something that would benefit other developers? Maybe you have an idea of how the Bluetooth SIG can reduce friction/complexity for developers? I’d love to talk about either publishing a white paper, presenting a webinar or training, or whatever makes sense to begin creating an active community.

So consider this an open call for papers, ideas, answers to questions, etc. Together we can start building a stronger Bluetooth developer community.
